This music was written for the game Drawn To You, which was created by Team Sheeps. Here is a description of the game from the GGJ site:
"Sunlight is setting on your idyllic cabin in the woods. You (or your loved one) develop an illness and progressively get sicker as you take a stroll through the foliage. What do you do now? Do you stay, or do you go? Together, your lights are brighter, and you joyfully harmonize. Apart, you are dim and may never see the other again. If you stay together, you can collect speed and light to make your last journey together last longer... were it not for the world coming to an end. What now? Do you rush back together to seek safety in your home? Do you hold hands and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime vision together? Whatever the end, what next?"
I've worked with Team Sheeps for the last three Global Game Jams, and each year they are able to craft games of impressive depth and beauty. This game is no exception, and the music retains many musical qualities of past projects. I wanted to create a rich and continuously moving musical texture based on a simple chord progression. Instruments are gradually added to the mix as the piece progresses and eventually we hear harmonizing vocalists before the song draws to a close.
The vocal parts grow louder the closer the characters are to each other. They fade away completely, however, if the players are too far apart. Once the players reach the end of the game, the ground beneath them falls away and we hear the ending musical segment in which the singers never conclude their final phrase, "What do we do now that we...?"
