It's the End Point of Dinosaur Civilization (And I Survived)

from Global Game Jam 2015 (Cleveland Game Developers) by Ian Faleer

about

This track was to accompany Apocalypse Run, a game by Cleveland Game Devs organizer Matt Perrin in collaboration with his son, who created the artwork. The game is a runner in which dinosaurs are racing to escape their impending doom and avoiding obstacles. While the game was not completed within the scope of the Game Jam, I felt compelled to finish the track because I loved Matt's music concept.

He initially wanted me to write something reminiscent of REM's "It's the End of the World as we Know It", but I took it to another level. On the final morning of the Game Jam, I carefully reviewed the original REM song and recreated the instrumental parts of the chorus as closely as possible using MIDI instruments. I then recorded vocals using my best Michael Stipe impression. This was an extremely fun track to record and a great way to kick off the final day of the Jam.

lyrics

It's the end point of dinosaur civilization
It's the end point of dinosaur civilization
It's the end point of dinosaur civilization
What do we do now?

It's the end point of dinosaur civilization (x3)
(I'm glad I'm not a dinosaur)
But I'm all right
Yeah I survived
Because I'm a mammal
