about

This track is actually a compilation of four short tracks I wrote for Backyard Yard. Much like the games Cyto, Masks, and Mirorim, Backyard Run features music that changes with cues from the game mechanics that the player controls. The premise of this game is that you play as a child playing in a yard, and you can use your imagination to "transform" into a dinosaur, a race car driver, or an astronaut in a spaceship. The player can use these forms to pass specific obstacles in the yard, such as a barking dog or fallen tree, and each transformation changes the style and instrumentation of the music through layered tracks. For the album, I arranged the tracks sequentially, beginning with the main loop, then progressing to the dinosaur, race car, and spaceship tracks. The final section of this recording is not featured in the game, but it combines aspects of each themed track into one cohesive musical sound.
