From the official description:
"Cardio 54 is the hottest artery in the thoracic cavity and it's your job to make sure only the hippest, healthiest blood cells get in."

Since one of the items on my bucket list is to one day establish a successful cartoon disco in a major artery, I was thrilled to be able to write music for just such a game! In Cardio 54, you have to keep blood cells passing through the artery by clicking on them with the mouse and keyboard commands. Simultaneously (and here's the hard part) you have to press the space bar on the strong beats of the music to keep blood pumping to the heart.

Because the heartbeat was such an important part of gameplay, I wanted to write a track with disco and funk elements featuring a strong heartbeat pattern in the bass and kick drum. I also added a "blip" sound on the heartbeat reminiscent of an EKG monitor. The American Heart Association recommends keeping the tempo of "Stayin' Alive" (around 100 bpm) for hands only CPR, so I also thought it fitting to also stay close to the tempo range and general musical style of that BeeGees classic.
