I wrote this track for a Game Jam game called "The Final Drive". The premise of this action/racing game is simple - you are a humble winnebago driver trying to escape the end of the world, which is happening right behind you due to the crazy smoke monster type thing chasing you! While the game developers behind this project initially envisioned a much darker, intense soundtrack, they were very happy with the lightheartedness of my final product. Aside from some brief tutorials, this song was my first creation using Apple's Logic Pro software. I did not have a MIDI keyboard with me at the time and I had a very limited knowledge of the software's capabilities. Partly as a result of this, the entirety of this song is comprised of pre-recorded audio loops bundled with the software. The challenging part was that I was not able to alter chord progressions or any melodic/harmonic aspects of the audio samples; I could only alter tempo, entrances, and cutoffs. Much of my time was spent experimenting with layers of audio samples to create an authentic sounding acoustic ensemble.
