about

This track was written for the game Super Katana Force Go!, a side-scrolling 2D fighter reminiscent of many classic beat-em-ups of the late 80s and early 90s. One major convention of this game genre is punching/slashing/killing a nearly endless supply of faceless goons as you advance toward the final boss. In Super Katana Force, you continue this tradition of hacking through baddies, but as the game advances you begin to see larger moral problems with the hero's brand of uncompromising vigilante "justice".

I wanted to go for a big, cheesy 80s metal sound, but also one that becomes distinctly darker in nature as the hero's deeds become more and more unseemly throughout the game. What starts as a fun, upbeat rock track transitions to a solemn march as the katana wielding hero kills without forethought or mercy.
