about

This album is a compilation of all of the music I wrote and recorded for the 2013 Global Game Jam, which ran from January 25th-27th at sites around the world. In this event, participants can work alone or in teams to construct a game based around a theme, which could be a phrase, image, sound, etc.. The theme changes every year and every site worldwide has the same theme to work with. This year's theme was the sound of a beating heart.

This is the second year I've participated in the event through the Cleveland Game Developers. My role in the Global Game Jam is to work as a freelance music composer/sound designer, creating short soundtracks for as many different game projects as possible in a 48 hour time frame. Last year, I wrote five tracks for four games. This time, coming in with another year's worth of composing experience, I was able to create nine music tracks for seven games. The tracks on this album represent diverse musical styles and were all completed in less than 48 hours.

All tracks on this album, as well as my 2012 Global Game Jam album, are free to download, but if you feel so moved you can pay more. Payment of any amount, while not required, is helpful and always deeply appreciated as I work to develop my career as a freelance composer.

I've provided descriptions of each track as well links to play and find out more about these and other inventive games that came out of the 2013 Global Game Jam.
